Composer and arranger Eric Benjamin introduces Eroica Press, a catalog of varied works for orchestra, chorus and soloists. In this collection, you'll find fresh music for Christmas productions--including arrangements for a children's chorus--patriotic music, and music suitable for school choirs. Gift of the Magi, for example, is an operatic treatment of the O.Henry short story classic.
With singer-songwriter, Alex Bevan, Benjamin has collaborated to create orchestral arrangements for Bevan's Watersongs and A Child Looks at Christmas Eve. A collaboration with Actors' Summit theater company yielded music for Romeo and Juliet, A Midsummer Night's Dream and Julius Caesar. Red Riding Hood was commissioned and premiered by the Children's Ballet Theater of Akron in 1999.
In 2000, the Ohio Music Teachers Association named Benjamin the Ohio Composer of the year and commissioned Autumn Songs, settings of poetry by Frost, Howes and Rilke for soprano, piano and synthezier.
